SPRING MUSICALS

Kindergarten students have been working very hard on their Spring programs, and they are excited to present them to you!  Each performance will last approximately 25 minutes, so it is important that you be on time. After your child’s performance, you are invited to visit our book fair and art show. Please follow the schedule below. We can’t wait to show you what they have been working on!

LES ART SHOW

Our art teacher, Mrs. Shaul, has been working with all students in 5K-5th grade to create beautiful pieces of art. The students are very proud of all their hard work and really want to show it off. Parents are invited to view their child’s artwork during the week of April 20-24. Please follow the book fair schedule to see these hallway displays. While you’re here, you can visit the book fair!

BOOK FAIR

The Spring Book Fair will be held April 20-24.  Remember to send the money for the book PLUS the 8% sales tax in a Ziploc bag or envelope stating it is for the Book Fair. April 20-24, parents may accompany their child to the book fair in the library at the times listed below. If you have multiple children at LES, please choose one of the times to visit with all of your children. Please find the times the book fair is available below:

iREADY

iReady is a program our school has been using to help students master grade level work in reading and math. All students in grades K-5 will take an end of year assessment after spring break (April 28-29). Please discuss with your child the importance of doing their best on this assessment. Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast!

END OF YEAR CEREMONIES

Bridging and award ceremonies have been scheduled. Please make sure to add these to your own calendar. Only 5K and 3rd grade students will participate in the bridging ceremonies. Fourth and fifth grade will have an awards ceremony.

PARADE NEWS

Our Cat in the Hat parade and Parade of Nations was a huge success this year. The Cat in the Hat winners were announced during the parade. Each winner received a book written by Dr. Seuss. Congratulations to these boys and girls:

4K/5K REGISTRATION

It’s not too late to register for the 2026-2027 school year. Children who turn 4 on or before September 1, 2026 are eligible to attend 4-year old kindergarten. Children who turn 5 on or before September 1, 2026 and are NOT currently enrolled in school are eligible to attend 5-year old kindergarten.  

 All of the following documentation will need to be presented for each student at the time of registration:

  • Official Birth Certificate (long form)

  • Social Security Card

  • Current Immunization Record

  • Medicaid Card

  • 2 proofs of residency that you reside within the Latta School District (current electric, water or land line phone bills, Driver’s license, property tax notice)

Your child will not be officially registered until ALL required documents have been received.

FIELD TRIPS

Please make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes on the day of your trip!

·   All 3rd graders will get a visit from Diamond Del. Students will continue to learn more about rocks and minerals on this visit. Diamond Del will come to our school on Wednesday, April 15!

·   Fifth graders will walk to LMS for a tour of the school on Tuesday, April 14! This will be their new home next school year.

·   All 4K/5K students are going on a field trip to Southern Palmetto Farms.

Yearbooks on sale now!

DON’T MISS OUT

Yearbooks are $35. If you would like to get a yearbook, please send your payment to school in an envelope labeled with your child’s name and teacher. You can no longer purchase a yearbook online. We will have a limited number of extras, so please don’t delay in sending in your order.

SPRING BREAK

Dive into spring break! The school will be closed April 14-18. Spend some time with your family by diving into some great books! Try to read one book each day of your break. Make it fun by using the ideas below:  

April 6: Take a Trip! Go to our local library and check out 5 books for the week. Read one while you’re there.

April 7: Be the Teacher! Read a book to a younger child.

April 8: Fort Night! Make a blanket fort and read your favorite book.

April 9: Time for Lunch! Read a recipe, make it, and enjoy.  

April 10: Lights Out! Read a book in the dark while using a flashlight.  

Reading with your child is a great way to spend some quality time together. Please make some time to read together this week!

CAREER FAIR

Our 5th grade students are ready to present their career projects on Friday, April 3. 5th graders can dress up as their chosen career and show off their hard work to 1st-4th graders. Parents are invited to see their presentations from 8:30-9:00. The students are so excited to show what they have learned, so we hope to see you on April 3 at 8:30!
