These fourth graders were selected to go to the first Liberty Day at the South Carolina State House. Liberty Day was a special event to celebrate the 250th anniversary of America's Independence. Fourth graders from around the state stepped into the Statehouse, which was transformed into a classroom. State Leaders such as Governor Henry McMaster and South Carolina Superintendent of Education, Ellen Weaver, shared stories centered around our state's pivotal role in the American Revolution. They expressed the importance of civic participation.
Students met historical interpreters and participated in hands-on, interactive experiences. They watched a performance from the Gullah Traveling Theater, which provided an encouraging message, to go out and live with liberty in their hearts!
Mrs. Coleman and Mrs. Cox are thankful they had the opportunity to take their classes on such a memorable field trip!

Latta Elementary School is proud to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. Our students and staff have created a special Veterans' Day display to show our appreciation and respect for all who have served.
We invite our families and community members to stop by and view the display located outside the front of LES. Take a moment to reflect, celebrate our heroes, and snap a few photos to share your gratitude. Our fourth grade students will be performing for ALL veterans on Veterans' Day, Tuesday, November 11 at 9:30. We invite the entire community to come and watch our 4th graders honor our veterans in song!

Hooray for the 45th day of school! We appreciate everyone’s efforts in making attendance a priority for your student(s)! LES had 490 students with “awesome attendance” in September, and each of them earned a prize of their choice! We want to see that number continue to rise! School is not the same without your student!
We also celebrated 40 staff members with perfect attendance! Congrats to our 4 lucky gift card winners!
Friendly Attendance Reminders: a student is considered truant after 3 consecutive or 5 total unexcused absences, an excuse is required immediately upon a student’s return to school, and five parent note excuses are allowed per school year
