Our 8th grade students were hard at work today in Mrs. Rogers’ Fundamentals of Computing class!
Today’s focus was on improving their typing skills as students practiced accuracy, speed, and proper keyboarding techniques. These skills may seem simple, but strong keyboarding skills are an important part of being successful in today’s digital world!
We are proud to see our Vikings working to strengthen their skills and become more confident, efficient technology users. Keep up the great work, 8th graders!

The afternoon was filled with smiling faces, meeting teachers, reconnecting with friends, learning about the many clubs and organizations available at LMS. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon such a great success!
Now it's time for one final weekend of summer before we officially kick off the 2026-2027 school year on Monday morning! We can't wait to welcome all of our Vikings back to campus.
A few reminders for Monday:
• Student drop-off begins at 7:35 AM. Please do not arrive before that time, as staff members will not be on duty.
• Students are considered tardy if they are not in their classroom by 8:00 AM.
We hope all of our students and families enjoy the final weekend of summer break. Get some rest, make some memories, and get ready for what we know will be our best year yet!
See you Monday morning!

Although the start of the new school year is still a few weeks away, I know many of you are beginning to think about class schedules and school supplies.
Student schedules for the 2026-2027 school year will be mailed to families on Tuesday, July 14. Supply lists for the upcoming school year are attached and are also available on our school webpage: https://www.dillon3.k12.sc.us/o/lms.
Please mark your calendars for Open House on Thursday, July 30, from 2:00-6:00 p.m. We look forward to welcoming you and helping students prepare for a successful school year.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we look forward to seeing all of our students again soon!

On Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21 approximately 200 LMS students traveled to SkyZone in Florence for our End-of-the-Year PBIS Celebration trip. To qualify for the trip, students had to maintain fewer than 40 marks on their countdown card, receive no more than 2 minor classroom referrals, and have zero office referrals for the year - a tremendous accomplishment that reflects dedication, determination, and Viking Pride! We are incredibly proud of these students for consistently exceeding expectations and serving as positive leaders at LMS.
Our 2026 LMS Awards Day Programs will be held on Friday, May 22 in the Latta High School gymnasium. We are excited to recognize and celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of our students.
The program schedule is as follows:
6th Grade and 7th Grade Awards Program - 9:00 a.m.
8th Grade Awards Program - 10:15 a.m.
Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. for the first program and at 10:00 a.m. for the second program. Families attending both programs are welcome to remain in the gym between ceremonies. To ensure that all students and families are able to hear each student’s name as awards are presented, the gym doors will be locked during each program to minimize disruptions. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Students receiving awards were given invitations on Tuesday afternoon.
Early Check-Out Procedures
Parents will be able to sign students out after the awards day programs and will have to show an ID to sign the student out on the sign-out sheet. If someone other than a parent is present to sign the student out, that person must be listed as a contact for the student or we will not be able to allow that person to sign them out.
We look forward to celebrating the achievements and successes of so many of our students on Friday and hope you will join us for this special occasion. Thank you for your continued support of LMS!

Both of these outstanding staff members are deeply dedicated to our school and consistently go above and beyond each day to help make LMS the very best it can be. Their hard work, commitment to students, and positive impact on our school community make them truly deserving of this recognition.
We are incredibly fortunate and blessed to have Mrs. Selby and Mr. Mays as part of the LMS family. Congratulations to both of them on this well-earned honor!

If you missed the dance showcase last night, you still have an opportunity to attend! The students will perform dances based on the historical development of the American born dance style of jazz dance along with student self-choreographed dances! Admission is $5.00 per guest.
