Not all things in Computer class are boring! Sometimes things are even competitive and fun!

Here, you'll see two students enjoying a game of Z-Type to see who can get the higher GWAM (Gross Words a Minute). You will also see a student enjoying a game of Pac Man after completing her computer lessons early!

We look forward to more exciting activities in Computer!

Every morning, our 8th grade morning announcers greet the student body and keep us informed of lunch, birthdays, national days, sports, and events. This morning, our announcers went above and beyond to showcase school spirit by featuring Goosetta, our school goose, and wearing a Viking helmet! We are so thankful for those who take leadership and pride to complete the morning announcements every day!

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we have some fun activities and exciting competitions planned to celebrate!

Every school day is an opportunity for your child to learn, grow, and connect with classmates. Help your child build strong attendance habits by making sure they arrive at school on time, ready to learn, and ready to make the most of each day.

Ms. Faulk has kicked off her exciting Subway Surfer ELA Stations in the classroom! Through station rotations, students have the opportunity to work collaboratively in small groups while practicing and strengthening a variety of ELA skills.

During each rotation, students complete engaging activities, collaborate with their peers, and receive targeted instruction from Ms. Faulk. Stations may include grammar practice, novel study, story elements, independent learning activities, and teacher-guided annotation.

This engaging approach allows students to receive additional support, strengthen important skills, and take greater ownership of their learning. We love seeing our Vikings actively engaged and working together!

Ms. Allison's 6th grade math students have completed their first unit of the school year and are now preparing for Friday’s unit assessment through engaging math stations! Each station focused on a key learning target from the unit, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals. Students were excited to collaborate with their peers as they worked together to solve task cards and strengthen their understanding. We love seeing our Vikings actively engaged in learning!

The LMS Vikings visited the library this week! During their visit, students completed a scavenger hunt to explore the library sections, organization, and procedures. Throughout the week, as students were leaving, I heard comments like, "I love this library," "I just want to stay here and read," and "I can't wait to check out more books!" The Vikings are starting off a great year of reading, learning, and literacy! #VikingsReadVikingsLead

Our 8th grade students were hard at work today in Mrs. Rogers’ Fundamentals of Computing class!

Today’s focus was on improving their typing skills as students practiced accuracy, speed, and proper keyboarding techniques. These skills may seem simple, but strong keyboarding skills are an important part of being successful in today’s digital world!

We are proud to see our Vikings working to strengthen their skills and become more confident, efficient technology users. Keep up the great work, 8th graders!

Students in our new Project Lead The Way (PLTW) course - Flight and Space - jumped right into their first hands-on activity! Working with a partner, students used the design process to create and build paper airplane gliders. After building their prototypes, students put their designs to the test! Each team completed three test flights, measuring how far their glider landed from a target positioned 1.5 meters away. This activity gave students the opportunity to collaborate, problem-solve, test their ideas, and use data to evaluate their designs - all while having a little fun along the way! We’re excited to see where this new PLTW course takes our students!

Students in Mrs. Marsh's 7th grade Science classes have already been working hard and cooperating in class. On the first day of school, they completed the MARSHmallow Tower Challenge with spaghetti noodles which is Mrs. Marsh's favorite food. As they learned things about Mrs. Marsh, they also learned that Science involves trial and error. Overall, it was an awesome first day in Science for everyone!
